Kickstarter connects creators with backers to fund projects.
Rewards aren’t guaranteed, but creators must regularly update backers.
You’re only charged if the project meets its funding goal by the campaign deadline.
We’re currently aiming to release the game on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch simultaneously.
The commercial release plan for Mandragora includes digital copies on each aforementioned platform, and physical copies for console platforms. There is currently no plan for a PC physical release, although we cannot guarantee that these plans will not change in the future. The physical versions for both PC and console platforms offered in the Kickstarter campaign are going to offer an exclusive, Kickstarter backer-only box design.
While we don’t have an exact date just yet, we’re aiming for the second half of 2023.
We’re working on text and full voiceovers in English and our native Hungarian, and our great publishing partner Marvelous will provide top-quality text for German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean. For more details, check out our Languages post.
Yes, Mandragora will be a single-player experience.
We’ve been working on the game since 2018. Five people built the foundations, and after years of slow team expansion, Mandragora is now coming together nicely.
Core elements are in place; many bosses are finished, multiple other enemies are completely implemented, and most classes and their skills are designed and are now being refined. The campaign structure is set, the major story arc and main character storylines are written, three environments are completed, and the rest of the chapters are well underway.
Yes, we are planning to include customization options at launch, such as the option to select the body type and voice of your character. And now, thanks to you helping us reach our main funding goal, other customization features will be available too.
Not currently. Developing the base game takes our full attention for now. But we’re definitely planning to both support and expand the world of Mandragora later down the line.
We purposefully designed the game to include a variety of features; not only from Metroidvanias or Soulslikes, but also from classic RPGs and narrative-driven games with complex storytelling, with the goal of combining what we love about all our favourite titles into one cohesive experience.
Yes, our friends over at Marvelous Europe are on board as the publisher for Mandragora! They’re a great partner that is actively encouraging our ambitions by supporting us in getting the game made and handling worldwide distribution, marketing efforts, and localization – all while we still retain full creative control of the game.
Yes, you can, even if you plan to redeem your physical copy or digital download on a different platform!
You’ll be able to indicate your preferred platform for your full copy of Mandragora after the campaign.
Yes! You can add more to your Reward Tier by selecting from the list of available Add-ons.
You can choose up to 10 pieces per Add-on. For example, if you selected the “Mage” Tier, you can add one Art Book, two Exclusive Glass Mugs, and ten additional Exclusive T-Shirts.
All “Exclusive” rewards are Kickstarter backer-exclusive items that won’t become available to retail customers later down the line. For example, physical game copies with an exclusive box design.
However, we reserve the right to keep a few to give away in special cases – like for players who volunteer to help us in various ways, media personalities, games industry partners, and charitable giveaways.
We will ship Rewards to EU-based backers from within the EU so you won’t be charged sales tax or customs fees. The Total amount that you see for your pledge on Kickstarter is all you pay.
The same applies to US-based backers – what you see is what you’ll pay.
We’re also examining the same possibility for a few other countries. We can’t confirm anything yet, but we’ll give a shout whenever we can.
All funds raised here on Kickstarter will go directly to Primal Game Studio and Mandragora.
They will be spent on hiring new talents to grow our development team, working on additional game features as detailed on the project page, and providing promised rewards to our generous backers.
